Get Through Winter Safely
After a mild start to Winter, Mother Nature has reminded us that cold Wisconsin temperatures are alive and well.
Be sure to have an emergency kit and a blanket in your vehicle in case of car trouble. Also, be sure to check your battery. Cold weather can harm battery performance, so be sure that you come in to have yours checked for optimal performance.
Finally, a broken belt today can mean big trouble for your engine tomorrow. Serpentine belts are used on most engines to turn the water pump, alternator, power steering, and air-conditioning compressor. If a belt snaps, you may be stranded. Most serpentine and timing belts should be replaced every 60,000-90,000 miles, or based on the interval specific in your owner’s manual.
How are your tires handling the winter?
Tire pressure drops in cold weather, reducing traction and making your car vulnerable on icy or slick roads. Get yours checked to make sure they’re safe for the road.
